The views on Donald Trump's first year after returning as president differ greatly whether you ask Republicans or Democrats, writes TT.
- The year has been marked by common sense and progress. Crime is down and the military is stronger. I feel safer, says Lori Viars, a conservative campaign strategist from Ohio.
She is supported by Trump voter Erin Decker in Washington, who also highlights that food and gasoline have become cheaper.
Democrat Sarah Stephens in Minneapolis is all the more concerned. She says that Trump threatens both the rules-based world order and the US's constitutionally protected rights.
- Honestly, I don't know if the damage can be repaired, at least not in my lifetime, she says.
She feels that food has become more expensive and she worries about the eroded health insurance system.
Advertising agency manager Neil Goodspeed in Saint Paul says his big hope for 2026 is that the midterm elections actually take place.
– That the Democrats take back at least the House of Representatives and can start holding the government accountable, he says.

Donald Trump is currently holding a press conference at the White House. Trump's harsh statements about Greenland and threats of new tariffs against European countries have led to strong reactions, both in the United States and Europe.
Reporters in the room have been given a document titled "365 victories in 365 days", which lists several of Trump's political decisions during his first year as president.
The president is scheduled to travel to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, tomorrow. There, he is expected to meet with several of the European leaders who have criticized his statements about Greenland.

Donald Trump is the world's most dangerous man, says former Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt in SVT's Foreign Office. He says, among other things, that Trump's "power of destruction emanates from a country that should know better".
- He also has the power to limit Vladimir Putin in a way that he does not use.
Reinfeldt says that Russia is given the space to threaten Europe when Donald Trump and the US do not do enough to stop the country.

Donald Trump is currently holding a press conference at the White House. The president began by showing a series of pictures of people he believes are undocumented migrants who have committed violent crimes in the United States.

After defending the work of the immigration agency ICE, Trump began to read out many of the political decisions he has made during the year.
