The
junta said earlier this week that they would ask Hong Kong to extradite
Thaksin, and then they backtracked. This was probably because it’s
really embarrassing for them that a member of the royal family is
continuing to show open support for Thaksin and his family.
It’s clear that the royal family is very divided over the best way forward for Thailand, and all Thais can see this.
Two days ahead of the Thai election, Princess Ubolratana's decision to
preside at the wedding of Thaksin Shinawatra's daughter in Hong Kong is a
clear calculated act of defiance against the junta and her brother King
