Elon Musk will soon leave his role in the White House.

Donald Trump has told people in his "inner circle", three sources tell Politico.

But the White House press secretary calls the news "garbage".

According to the sources, Trump is satisfied with Musk's work within the White House agency Doge. But the men have now agreed that billionaire Musk will step down within the next few weeks and "return to his business activities".

However, he will probably continue to have an informal role as an advisor, according to one of the sources.

Those who think Musk will leave Trump's circle completely are "deceiving themselves," says a source.

White House: Garbage

Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, called Politico's reporting "garbage."

"Elon Musk and Donald Trump have both said publicly that Elon will leave his post when his incredible work with Doge is complete," she writes on X.

Musk has a 130-day contract as a "special government employee," which expires at the end of May.
