Trump's USA

The President's Team
"Trump 2028" freezes the field for others

How serious is Donald Trump really with his plans for a third term in the White House? Until the world gets clarity on that issue, he is preventing everyone else in the party from starting to build a presidential campaign for the 2028 election, writes NBC News.

Trump's talk is mainly affecting Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and others who are concerned about the president's favor, says Asa Hutchinson, who ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.

- They know they have to stay out of the picture until Donald Trump gives his blessing and says he will not seek a third term, he says.

And many in the party expect Trump to delay his announcement as long as possible. The best way to stay on the right side is to play into the idea that Trump will actually run for a third term, says one of his advisers, who wishes to remain anonymous.

Greenland's future
Greenland leader: Will never be bought

Greenland's Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, and Danish Prime Minister, Mette Fredriksen, held a press conference after they both met on Sunday.

During the press conference, Jens-Frederik Nielsen said that Denmark and Greenland "must move closer to each other", reports TV2.

- We are in a foreign policy situation that requires us to move closely together, he says.

- We will never be property that someone can buy, he continues according to Reuters.

The relationship between Copenhagen and Nuuk has been tense since the election in Greenland and they have demanded more autonomy. It has also been further affected by pressure from the United States, where Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened annexation and that he needs Greenland for national security.

Border issue
Nearly 800 migrants arrested in Florida operation

The US immigration agency ICE has arrested 780 people in Florida over four days, reports the New York Times.

The operation, called the "Tidal wave" (tidal wave), took place this week and the agency targeted undocumented migrants who are now to be deported, sources told the newspaper. It is part of Donald Trump's strict immigration policy and goal of accelerating the deportation of migrants. But the number of arrests has not been in line with the president's goal, writes the NYT.

American public opinion
Voters give Trump a poor rating after the first 100 days - the worst in 72 years

Donald Trump has almost been in the White House for 100 days and he has rapidly established the policies he promised during the election campaign. But Americans are not happy with their new president, a series of heavy opinion polls show.

CNN's poll shows that 41 percent of the population supports Trump. This is the lowest number a president has had after 100 days since Dwight Eisenhower in 1953, when such surveys began.

A Washington Post and ABC News poll shows that six in ten Americans think Trump is handling the economy, US relations with other countries, the introduction of tariffs and the turbulence in the financial markets poorly. He has the strongest support on the issue of immigration, but despite that, only 46 percent think he is handling the issue well.

In an NBC News poll, 60 percent say the United States is on the wrong track, only 40 percent think the opposite. The poll also shows that he is losing support among white men without a college degree, who are otherwise a strong voting group for Trump.

Americans think less of Musk: "Burned the reputation"

Only 33 percent of Americans have a positive view of Elon Musk, a clear decline from December when the figure was 41 percent. This is shown by a survey from the AP and Norc Center.

- It was a shame that he crashed and burned his reputation. He went for the myth about himself, says Democratic voter Ernest Pereira, 27.

It is precisely among the opposition that trust has taken an extra clear hit, which is perhaps not so surprising. Only one in ten Democrats today has a positive view of the world's richest man, compared to seven in ten Republicans.

The news agency notes that Musk now appears to be taking a step away from Donald Trump and American politics, but that during the months in politics he offered significant cuts to the state apparatus and made several notable appearances.
