Hamas: Releases all hostages in exchange for five-year ceasefire
Hamas is open to releasing all remaining hostages in exchange for a five-year ceasefire and an end to the war, sources told AFP. The statement comes as Hamas delegations are due to meet mediators in Cairo later today.
The terror group has consistently demanded that a ceasefire must lead to an end to the war and that Israel leave the Gaza Strip. It has also wanted to see a prisoner exchange and humanitarian aid allowed into Gaza. Israel, for its part, has demanded the release of all hostages and the total disarmament of Hamas – something that has been described as a “red line” for Hamas, AFP writes.
Over 30 trapped in rubble in Gaza: “Can’t reach them”
Four people have been killed and at least five people injured in an Israeli attack on Gaza City on Saturday, AFP reports.
At the same time, “over 30 people” are reported to be buried under rubble from a house that collapsed in the attack, Gaza’s civil defense authority said. Rescue workers “cannot reach those trapped due to the lack of necessary machinery,” spokesman Mahmud Bassal said.
