Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyj have met for the first time since the infamous meeting in the White House.

Shortly before the Pope's funeral, the leaders met inside St. Peter's Basilica.

In a picture, the two leaders are seen sitting on separate chairs, staring into each other's eyes.

US President Donald Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyj are both attending Pope Francis' funeral in the Vatikan.

Before the funeral, the leaders met inside St. Peter's Basilica.

In one picture, Trump and Zelensky are seen sitting opposite each other on chairs. They are leaning forward and staring into each other's eyes.

The picture is the first of the two together since the big fight in the White House.

The meeting was "very productive"

Steven Cheung, an assistant to Trump, says that the meeting was "very productive", reports AFP.

Trump and Zelensky also agreed to meet again after the funeral, later on Saturday, sources tell Sky News.

Staying for 16 hours

The meeting comes after Trump said that a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia is "very close".

The US president arrived in Rome on Friday evening and is expected to leave at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, reports the Italian Corriere della Sera
