Iran strikes back – no new talks with US planned
Iran denies that talks with the US on its nuclear program will continue, reports AFP.
After the 12-day war with Israel, diplomatic talks took a turn for the worse, but after that Donald Trump has said that talks with Tehran will continue next week. This is now opposed by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, while the country is criticizing Washington.
– I want to say clearly that no agreement or talks are planned to start new negotiations, says Araghchi.
Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei also accused Trump of exaggerating the effect of the attack on the nuclear facilities. Al Jazeera reports that it is also clear that Iran has no ambitions to end its nuclear program.
Everyday life slowly returns to Tehran: “We don’t trust that the war is over”
Everyday life is slowly returning to Tehran after the 12-day war with Israel, reports the BBC, which visited the Iranian capital. Shops, bazaars and cafes are reopening – but residents don’t dare to breathe.
– I’m afraid they’ll attack again. We don’t trust that the war is over, says nurse Ashraf Barghi.
It’s a feeling she shares with many.
In connection with the attacks, many people fled the city in droves. One of them was Nika, who took refuge with a relative.
– After living for eleven days in a place with no signs of war but which was not my home – without privacy and peace and quiet – it feels like heaven to come home, she tells Al Jazeera.
Trump: Will attack Iran again if they have enriched uranium
Donald Trump says the US may attack Iran again if they have intelligence indicating that the country can still enrich uranium. On Friday, the president was asked if the administration would consider new attacks if it turned out that the previous attack did not destroy Iran's nuclear energy program.
- Without a doubt. Absolutely, says Trump according to AFP.
The president also says that Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was "just wiped out of hell" during the fighting with Israel and the US. Khamenei said yesterday that Iran had emerged victorious from the fighting.
