Middle East Crisis USA vs Iran

Satellite images show Iran's construction work at Fordow

Iran has begun filling in craters and restoring access roads at Fordow, satellite images show according to Business Insider. Fordow was one of three nuclear power plants bombed by the US last weekend.

The satellite images were taken on Friday by Maxar Technologies. They show activity near the tunnel entrances and at the bomb impact sites.

Many questions remain after the attacks, the most central of which is what happened to the uranium that Iran enriched.

Expert: Lack of clarity in Trump's foreign policy

US President Donald Trump has recently chosen to attack Iran, expressed clear support for NATO and accused Vladimir Putin of being an obstacle to peace in Ukraine. The Wall Street Journal reports that this is significantly different from how Trump has previously acted and spoken out.

The president has previously promised to keep the United States out of conflicts in the Middle East, criticized NATO member states and avoided putting pressure on Russia.

– It is difficult to discern a coherent, strategic and consistent line in what Trump is doing, Christopher Preble of the Stimson Center think tank told the newspaper.

Trump's colleagues and supporters believe that the president is doing what is necessary to defend American interests. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt says that Trump is engaging in "conscious strategic ambiguity."

The US did not use the bombs against the Isfahan facility

The US did not use the so-called bunker busters against Isfahan, one of the three nuclear facilities that were attacked last weekend. This was stated by top general Dan Caine during a classified briefing with senators on Thursday, according to CNN's sources.

Caine is said to have said that Isfahan is so far underground that the bombs would not have been effective. The channel reports that this is the first clear explanation for why the US military did not use GBU bombs against the facility.

Both Fordow and Natanz were attacked with bunker busters, while Isfahan was attacked with Tomahawk missiles.

Officials believe that up to 60 percent of Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium may be located under Isfahan. Trump and his staff have repeatedly said that Iran's nuclear program was completely destroyed in the attacks.
