The American cruise missiles can reach China’s southern coast.
Now comes the eerie warning.
– Whoever invites the wolf into the house will eventually be harmed himself.
The world is holding its breath during the shaky ceasefire between Iran and Israel after the mass bombings of Iranian nuclear facilities.
Now a new possible hotbed of conflict is opening up with American weapons involved.
According to unconfirmed reports, the US is planning to station another Typhon-type missile system in the Filippinerna. From there, the system can fire the Tomahawk cruise missile and reach parts of southern China
Warns about the wolf
The Chinese have previously raged against the American weapons system in the Philippines and demanded that it be removed.
Now instead, the Philippines is raising the stakes and is believed to be doubling the possibilities of firing missiles in China's vicinity.
On Thursday, the Chinese Ministry of Defense warned of the consequences of a poorly disguised threat.
- Whoever invites the wolf into the house will eventually be injured himself and have his home destroyed, says Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang according to Newsweek.
The system has previously been in the Philippines during joint military exercises with the United States.
"Dangerous"
In December last year, the country announced that it would buy a first delivery of the Typhon.
At the time, China called the move "provocative and dangerous".
The Philippines says the deployment of the missile system is only to defend its own territory, not as a threat to any specific country.
In addition to the Tomahawk cruise missile, the Typhon can be used to fire anti-aircraft missiles.
The Chinese spokesman says that the region is “not a gladiatorial arena for world powers” and warns the Philippines not to “repeat old mistakes,” writes Newsweek.
The newspaper writes that the missile system has angered China greatly and increased tensions between the countries.
US awaits green light
Zhang Xiaogang said at a press conference on Thursday that the Philippines, through its military alliance with the US, “is undermining security and stability in the region.”
The US has previously said that it is ready to station a second Typhon system in the Philippines if the country gives the green light.
– I cannot understand the comments about the Typhon missile system. "We have not commented on their robotic system and their robotic system is a thousand times more powerful than what we have," Philippine President Fernando Marcos Jr. said in January in connection with the first purchase.
