Girl dead and four injured in terrorist attack in Guyana
An eight-year-old girl died and at least four people were injured when a car exploded at a gas station in Guyana's capital, Georgetown, reports the AP. Two are said to be seriously injured.
Authorities are investigating the incident as a terrorist attack and similar attacks have been carried out earlier this year. The explosion, which occurred on Sunday, was heard across several city districts.
Police say a man was seen placing explosive devices near gas cylinders at the gas station before fleeing the scene. No one has been arrested.
President asks for public help after the attack
Guyana's President Irfaan Ali is asking for public help in finding the perpetrator suspected of the terrorist attack at the gas station in the capital, Georgetown, where a girl was killed and four others were injured.
"All available resources and methods will be used to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the incident," he wrote in a statement according to the AP.
The man being hunted by authorities was seen placing explosives at the gas station before fleeing the scene.
