Tensions in the Caribbean
Venezuela scraps energy deal with "hostile" Trinidad and Tobago

Venezuela is halting a major energy deal with Trinidad and Tobago after the large US warship USS Gravely docked in the country, Reuters reports. The US and Trinidad and Tobago are to conduct joint military exercises in the region, where the US military has attacked boats carrying alleged drug smugglers.

Relations between Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago, neighboring countries that have previously helped each other when it comes to electricity supplies, are now "hostile" according to Oil Minister Delcy Rodríguez.

Since Kamla Persad-Bissessar came to power in Trinidad and Tobago in April, relations with Venezuela and the US-wanted president Nicolás Maduro have deteriorated.

Suspect in Nord Stream sabotage to be extradited

The Ukrainian man who is being held in custody in Italy on suspicion of involvement in the Nord Stream sabotage is to be extradited to Germany. An Italian court ruled on Monday, several media outlets report.

The man was arrested in August earlier this year in the Italian city of Brindisi, writes TT.

A decision to extradite him was made in September, but was later rejected by the Supreme Court. Now the same court in Bologna has again made the same decision.
