The war in Sudan

Sudan army accuses RSF of killing 2,000 civilians

The African Union condemns reports of suspected war crimes in al-Fashir in Sudan, reports AFP.

The city is located in war-torn Darfur and is said to have been taken over by the RSF paramilitary group after an 18-month siege. The Sudanese army has withdrawn from the city, effectively giving RSF control of the region.

The army accuses RSF of killing 2,000 unarmed civilians – mainly women, children and the elderly – in the past two days.

RSF has not commented on the reports, but there is great concern for the civilian population in the area in the world. According to Channel 4, RSF forces have already released videos showing extrajudicial executions, and many fear that the violence will escalate further.
