The increasing spread of infection in China worries the outside world.
On Friday, a crisis meeting was held together with the WHO to discuss the situation.
- It is understandable that countries around the world act, says WHO director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The spread of infection in China has once again picked up speed and reached levels not previously seen during the pandemic.
The Chinese public health authority states that each infected person spreads the infection to an average of 16 people, danska TV2 reports. It is many times worse than when the pandemic was at its worst in Sweden.
The crematoria burn corpses 24 hours a day while a new mutation has begun to worry scientists.
Can stop Chinese tourists
At the same time, China has eased the restrictions on foreign travel for citizens, something that is expected to lead to an increased infection around Europe.
Great Britain, France and Italy are concerned about the development and have introduced requirements for a negative covid test from Chinese tourists to be allowed to travel into the country.
In Sweden, however, there are no current measures for entry from China, according to state epidemiologist Anders Lindblom. But the government has tasked the Public Health Agency with "analyzing and evaluating" the situation.
Nor will Norway introduce restrictions, a decision supported by the head of the Public Health Institute, Preben Aavitsland.
"In Europe, we are swimming in a sea of coronavirus. We don't need to open the umbrella to protect ourselves from getting wet from rain from China," he writes on Twitter.
However,
WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus understands why some countries felt compelled to act.
"In the absence of comprehensive information from China, it is understandable that countries around the world act in the way they believe can protect their populations," he wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

High level meeting
On Friday, the WHO held a "high-level" meeting with China to discuss the spread of covid-19 in the country.
The WHO states in a press release that it has offered its support to China, but that it needs to receive data on the spread of infection in time to be able to help. They also reiterated the importance of vaccination and booster doses to protect the population.
"WHO again asked for China to regularly share real-time data on the spread of infection, but also data on disease impact including hospitalizations, admissions and deaths in intensive care units - and data on vaccinations and vaccination status, especially in vulnerable people and those over 6

British China test requirement faces criticism from experts
The
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's decision to introduce requirements
for covid testing of travelers from China is condemned by experts as a
political coup, writes The Observer.
Health
Minister Steve Barclay held a meeting on Thursday with the government's
Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty, who emphasized that there is no
evidence that testing would make any difference, the newspaper writes.
When
Barclay put it to Sunak, the Prime Minister is said to have said that
the most important thing was to follow the same line as the US, Japan,
Spain and Italy, which have already introduced testing.
Several
researchers the Observer spoke to agree with Whitty's assessment that
entry testing has negligible effect as UK infection rates are already
high, and airport testing has proven to be unreliable.
