The world celebrates New Year

The world celebrates 2023 after a subdued pandemic New Years  

After two years of subdued New Year's celebrations in the wake of the pandemic, 2023 is now welcomed with folk festivals and fireworks in many big cities. 

In Sydney, over a million spectators were on hand to ring in the New Year together at the city's iconic Opera House. 

- This New Year's Eve we say Sydney is back as we kick off the festivities around the world and welcome the new year with pomp and fanfare, Sydney Mayor Clover Moore said according to ABC.  

Also in South Korea, Hong Kong and Thailand, the new year has been ringed in with grand festivities.
