Airplane type grounded after deadly crash in Kentucky
The major American delivery companies UPS and FedEx will keep their MD-11 aircraft on the ground after this week's fatal accident in Kentucky, writes AP. The order is said to have come from manufacturer Boeing and is described as a precautionary measure.
Nine percent of UPS's delivery aircraft are of that model and for FedEx it is about four percent, according to the companies.
It is not yet clear why the plane caught fire and crashed into a building as it was about to take off. A total of 14 people died in the crash, most of whom were on the ground.
The car camera caught the plane crash on film
The AP news agency has published a video showing the plane crash in Louisville, Kentucky earlier this week. The video, filmed by a car camera, shows the low-flying plane crashing into an area of buildings and then exploding in a huge fireball.
Shortly afterwards, some people are seen running from the scene.
14 people died in the crash and several were seriously injured, several of whom were on the ground.
