Washington DC shooting

Suspected shooter in Washington charged with murder

29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who is suspected of shooting two National Guardsmen in Washington DC, has been charged with murder after one of his victims died. The AP reports.

20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom was declared dead on Thursday, and 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe is still fighting for his life.

Beckstrom's boyfriend Adam Carr describes her as a friendly and outgoing, but at the same time home-loving, person. She wanted to work for the FBI in the long run and had a passion for hunting and fishing.

- Last season she was overjoyed to go out. When she shot her first buck, she was ecstatic. I got letters and pictures and she could hardly describe her happiness, he tells CNN.

Trump stops immigration from poor countries

The United States will stop all immigration from "third world" countries, President Donald Trump announces. In a post on Truth Social, Trump writes that the US immigration system must be given a chance to “recover”.

The decision comes after the shooting of two National Guardsmen near the White House. The suspected perpetrator, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, had migrated from Afghanistan.

Trump also writes that the US is stopping all payments of benefits and subsidies to people who are not citizens. He also threatens to rescind all visas approved during Joe Biden’s term.
