Moldova: New drone violation
TT
Moldova closed its airspace for just over an hour on Saturday night after a new drone violation, the country's government said.
The
emergency measure was taken when two unidentified drones flew over
Moldovan territory and caused "a direct threat to aviation safety," the
defense ministry said.
Moldova, located between Ukraine and
Romania, has reported several violations of its airspace in recent
years. Earlier this week, it was announced that a drone crashed in the
country in connection with a total of six drones flying over its
territory.
President Maia Sandu accuses Russia of sending drones via Moldova during attacks on Ukraine.
“On their way to kill civilians, Russian drones once again violated Moldovan airspace,” she writes on X.
“We condemn these attacks and stand with Ukraine,” she adds.
