Satellite Images Show: Mass Killings Continue in Sudan
Satellite images of Sudan show that mass killings are likely continuing in El-Fasher, researchers at Yale University said, according to news agencies.
The researchers believe that a large proportion of the population may be “dead, captured or in hiding,” after seeing the images from Friday.
– Indicators that the mass killings are continuing are clearly visible, the researchers say.
At least 31 clusters of objects resembling human bodies were identified in the images between Monday and Friday.
The paramilitary group RSF took the city last week and there have been reports of executions, sexual violence, attacks on aid workers, looting and kidnappings.
The El-Fasher Massacre – the point is made
- The paramilitary group RSF took control of al-Fasher, the army’s last stronghold in Darfur, at the end of October 2025, after an 18-month siege.
- The UN and aid agencies reported massacres of civilians, with up to 500 people killed in one hospital and 2,000 civilians reportedly killed in two days.
- The fighting has led to a humanitarian catastrophe with famine, cholera and over 14 million people displaced, particularly in the Darfur region.
- The UN has warned of a sharp increase in civilian deaths, with at least 3,300 civilians killed in the first half of 2025, mainly by air and drone strikes.
- The African Union and the UN have condemned war crimes in Sudan and called for international action, while foreign interference and arms flows are making a solution difficult.
