There has been a spat between Donald Trump and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Trump recently harshly criticized the American Pope Leo XIV, after he called for an end to the fighting.
Giorgia Meloni said on Monday that it is only "right and normal" that the Pope "wants peace and condemns war in all its forms" and called the president's statement "unacceptable".
– She is the one who is unacceptable, because she doesn't care if Iran gets nuclear weapons and would blow up Italy in two minutes if they only had the chance, Trump says in the interview according to Politico.
Meloni has been one of Trump's closest European leaders and has been seen as a mediator between Europe and the United States.
