Ekholm: The market will deteriorate further 

 

Ericsson's CEO expects the market outside of China to deteriorate further in 2024 with "similar uncertainties to those we experienced in 2023".  

 

According to Ekholm, the company's customers are still cautious, but he believes that the underlying demand from increasing computer traffic will require network investments from operators. 

 

"We assess that the current investment levels are unsustainably low for many operators. We are therefore convinced that the market will recover", writes the CEO.  

 

The ambition to reach the long-term goal of a free cash flow of 9–12 percent of turnover "as soon as possible" is repeated.

Ekholm: We do not rule out cuts next year  

 

Ericsson's CEO is flagging upcoming staff reductions to deal with the headwinds in 2023 that are expected to carry over into 2024. The market is "very difficult", says Börje Ekholm to TT. 

 

- A large part of our costs are related to employees and thus it will have effects there as well.  

 

However, no major savings programs are planned.  

 

The market in North America fell by almost 50 percent last year for Ericsson.

Ericsson beats low expectations: "Not satisfied"  

 

Ericsson's ebita results fell by nearly 12 percent in the fourth quarter, but it was still better than analysts had feared.  

 

"Although the measures we have implemented to improve the result have paid dividends, we are not satisfied with our profitability, and there is more to do," CEO Börje Ekholm writes in the report.  

 

However, turnover was 6 percent lower than what the analysts in Infront's survey had expected. 

 

The proposed dividend is proposed unchanged at SEK 2.7 per share. The expected average was SEK 2.56.
