"Yesterday was one of the hardest days since the war began." This is what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu writes after over 20 Israeli soldiers were killed in Gaza on Monday.
21 of the soldiers were killed when they were fired upon with rocket launchers, causing two buildings mined by themselves to collapse. Another three were killed in other attacks.
"In the name of our heroes, in the fight for our lives, we will not stop fighting until we achieve total victory," Netanyahu writes.

Over 20 Israeli soldiers killed in attack in Gaza
21 Israeli soldiers were killed on Monday in an attack in southern Gaza, several media reports. It is the deadliest attack on the Israeli army in the three-month war.
The soldiers were preparing an explosive charge to destroy two buildings in Gaza when they were fired upon with a rocket launcher. The explosion caused their explosive charge to detonate and the mined buildings to collapse.
A total of 208 Israeli soldiers have been killed during the ground invasion of Gaza. During the Hamas attack in Israel on October 7, around 1,200 people were killed.
On Monday, the Hamas-controlled health ministry in Gaza said more than 25,000 Palestinians had been killed in the war. According to various studies, around 60-70 percent of the victims in Gaza are women, children or elderly men.
