ผมขอร้องให้สื่อต่างที่จะแชร์รูปจากเหตุการณ์เหล่านี้ ให้ใช้ความพยายามมากที่สุด ที่จะปิดหน้าคาดตาผู้ประท้วงที่กล้าหาญยืนหยัดต่อสู้เพื่อประชาธิปไตยเหล่านี้ ถ้าคุณจะแชร์รูปใคร ขอให้ช่วยกันปกป้องเอกลักษณ์เพื่อป้องกันความปลอดภัยของผู้ประท้วงด้วยครับ 3/4
ป้ายมันอธิบายตัวเองอยู่แล้ว แต่ IO – ที่ย่อมาจาก information operation เป็นคำเรียกของการให้ข่าวปลอมและโฆษณาชวนเชื่อของฝ่ายทหาร – ได้กลายมาเป็นศัพท์แสลงใหม่ที่ใช้เรียก กษัตริย์วชิราลงกรณ์ โดยล้อเลียนชื่อเล่นของเขาว่า “เสี่ยโอ” 4/4
Open criticism of the Thai monarchy is at its highest level in a century. Nobody has dared to be this bold since the 1930s. Initially I didn’t share this image yesterday, out of concern for the safety of those involved. 1/4
However, I can see others are sharing it widely on social media, so I am posting here too after concealing the faces of the protesters, to help protect them. 2/4
I would urge all journalists and those sharing images on social media to do their best to protect the identity of the brave protesters standing up for Thai democracy. If you are sharing this image, please share my redacted version for the benefit of the protesters. 3/4
The signs are mostly self explanatory, but IO — which stands for information operation, another word for military disinformation and propaganda — has become a new slang was to refer to King Vajiralongkorn. It’s a pun on his nickname for decades — “Sia-O” 4/4
