UPDATE
— The palace has released another statement on the health of Princess
Bajrakitiyabha.
The statement says she is "stable" which is probably true in the sense
that the situation remains the same. She has never regained
consciousness. 1/5
Usually palace statements find a way to say that health is improving, so saying it is merely stable shows the seriousness of the situation.
The statement adds that medication is being used to control her heartbeat. 2/5
It also says no heart defect could be found, which is unsurprising because although initial reports said she had a heart attack, in fact the princess suffered a brain aneurysm causing a massive subarachnoid haemorrhage, and this caused cardiac and respiratory arrest. 3/5
Finally it says "medication and tools" were being used to support her heart, lungs and kidneys, which is an indirect acknowledgement that she is being kept alive with an ECMO device. All of this is consistent with what I've been reporting in recent days. 4/5
What the statement omits is that she has no brain function
Overall, this appears to be a holding statement designed to give Thais the impression that there is still hope.
Unfortunately, the truth is that she will never wake up. 5/5
