The Fed vs Inflation
As expected, the Fed raises interest rates by 25 basis points
As expected, the US central bank, the Federal Reserve, raises the key interest rate by 25 basis points to a range of 4.50-4.75 percent.
"Inflation has subsided somewhat, but is still at a high level," the Fed executive writes in its interest rate statement, which is the eighth straight increase.
Wall Street rose sharply on Tuesday and on Wednesday the Stockholm Stock Exchange followed suit. Today, however, it was more nervous in New York and when the news came, the S&P 500 fell slightly.
Earlier in the afternoon, US statistics came out that were a bit at odds with each other. The number of vacant jobs increased more than expected, while the number of people employed in the private sector increased less than expected.

The FBI searched Biden's house - to no avail
The US federal police, the FBI, on Wednesday conducted a search of President Joe Biden's beach house in Delaware, writes Reuters.
According to Biden's lawyer, Bob Bauer, the agents were looking for documents that are kept in violation of their classification.
Bauer further says that the president is cooperating fully. The FBI has previously conducted similar raids in Wilmington and at a former office he held in Washington DC.
Later in the morning, American time, it was announced that the FBI had not found any classified documents in the house.

Green industrial plan The EU's answer to the US's big climate package
The US's giant climate package has been accused of being protectionist - now the EU is responding with a plan to "level the playing field".
At a press conference in Brussels, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, presented a "green industrial plan". The focus is above all on faster permit processes and simplified state support for renewable energy and green investments.
- In the next few years, it will be decided where and how the emission-free economy will develop, von der Leyen said.
She left the door open to a future "sovereignty fund" to raise more money, but said one would take longer to develop.
AFP writes that the EU leaders will discuss the proposals at a meeting in Brussels next week. A final decision is expected in March.
