Bessent wants to see cuts – warns of recession in the US
The White House is putting further pressure on the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates. They can and should cut because the government is tightening government spending, which should lead to reduced inflationary pressures, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in an interview with CNN on Sunday.
– Low-income households have been hit hard under President Biden. These high interest rates are hurting them because they have debt – not assets, he said.
Bessent also believes that there is a risk that parts of the American economy will fall into a recession.

250-kilogram bomb found near the Russian border in Estonia
A 250-kilogram aerial bomb was found on Sunday morning in Estonia near the Russian border, reports Estonian ERR.
The bomb was found outside the village of Auvere by a member of the public, and Estonia's equivalent of the national bomb disposal service has since determined that it is a bomb and handled it.
It is unclear where the bomb came from, but it was found at a time when Russia has increased its provocations in the border area with the Baltics.
