Trump's USA

Border issue
Trump: ICE raids have not gone far enough

The American immigration police ICE has received heavy criticism and caused major protests with its raids - but Donald Trump wants to take it harder. In an interview on CBS's "60 minutes," he is asked if he thinks the raids have gone too far.

– I don't think they've gone far enough because we've been held back by the liberal judges appointed by Biden and Obama, he replies.

In the raids, ICE has, among other things, tackled women, used tear gas and smashed car windows to tear out the drivers. Trump says he doesn't mind because "we have to get people out".

The interview is Trump's first with CBS in five years after he sued the channel and accused them of editing an interview with Kamala Harris to portray her in a positive light.

The settlement meant that CBS paid Trump the equivalent of around 150 million kronor.

American opinion situation
Majority dissatisfied with Trump: Has gone too far

A majority of Americans are dissatisfied with how Donald Trump is handling the job as president of the United States. This is shown by a Washington Post/Ipsos opinion poll.

41 percent think Trump is doing the job of president well, while 59 percent are dissatisfied. Among registered Republicans, however, support is significantly higher, with 86 percent approving of Trump. Among registered Democrats, the opposite is true, with 95 percent disapproving.

Among voters who are not registered with a party, however, dissatisfaction is high, with only 30 percent saying he is doing a good job.

A majority of voters also believe that Trump has gone too far in his attempts to “expand the power of the presidency,” according to the survey.

However, the disapproval of Trump does not mean success for the Democrats. Earlier this year, they reached rock bottom in public opinion, and according to a Washington Post poll, 68 percent think the party is out of touch with reality.
