Elon Musk's X

Rubio: EU's X fine is an attack on Americans

The White House is reacting strongly to Friday's announcement that the EU is demanding Elon Musk's social media company X pay a fine of just over 1.3 billion kronor. The reason is a violation of the Data Services Act DSA.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio writes about X that the fine is not only on the company "but an attack on all American technology platforms and the American people from foreign governments".

"The time when Americans were censored online is over", he continues.

Musk rages against billion-dollar fine: "The EU should be abolished"

The EU believes that X has violated the Data Services Act DSA and is demanding a fine of 1.3 billion kronor from the social media company. Among the problems is a lack of transparency regarding the ads. Friday's decision will cause owner Elon Musk to kick his ass.

“The EU should be abolished and sovereignty returned to individual countries, so that governments can better represent their people,” he writes in a post on X.

“Abolish the EU,” he writes in another.

On Friday, the White House also lashed out at the fine.

“The days of censorship of the American people online are over,” wrote Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
