New European summit on Ukraine

European leaders held a new meeting on Tuesday on the war in Ukraine.

On Platform X, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz writes:

"Today, we have held further consultations with our European and Canadian partners within the framework of the Berlin format. We are driving the peace process forward. Now openness and honesty are required from everyone – including Russia."

The meeting is part of ongoing negotiations that have been going on since November, with the goal of ending the war.

On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj and negotiators from Kiev spoke by phone with US envoy Steve Witkoff. This after Zelenskyy spoke with US President Donald Trump and also with European leaders.
