Several dead in shooting in Pretoria

At least eleven people have been killed in a shooting in Pretoria after three armed men stormed a hostel, South African police say.

Three of the dead are said to be minors. Of them, one is said to be a school-age child and another a small child.

"I can confirm that a total of 25 people have been shot," says police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe, adding that 14 people have been taken to hospital.

The hostel is located in Saulsville, less than two miles west of the center of Pretoria.

The storming took place at 4.30 am on Saturday. The motive for the shooting is unknown and no one has been arrested.

The shooting is the latest in a series of mass shootings that have shocked crime-ridden South Africa. According to police data, around 63 people were killed every day between April and September.
