Zelensky: 15-year security guarantees in peace plan

American security guarantees for 15 years are part of the draft peace agreement that the presidents of the United States and Ukraine discussed during Sunday's meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The peace plan discussed by Zelensky and US President Donald Trump on Sunday includes that the United States will provide Ukraine with security guarantees for the next 15 years, Volodymyr Zelensky said, several media outlets reported, citing the Reuters news agency.

According to Zelensky, he had asked Trump for security guarantees for up to 50 years.

Security guarantees have been one of the most difficult issues in a possible peace plan, and also Ukrainian territories. After Sunday's meeting, Trump said the agreement includes security guarantees in what he calls a "stable" agreement.
