Kremlin: Some parts of the proposal are “unacceptable”
It would be wrong to say that Vladimir Putin rejected the peace plan proposed by the United States and discussed in Moscow yesterday. This was claimed by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov at his daily press conference.
– Some things were accepted, others were marked as unacceptable. It is a normal working process to find a compromise, he said according to Reuters.
Putin’s meeting with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner lasted for almost five hours yesterday. From the Russian side, the meeting was described as productive, but no solution was reached.
Rubio: “Some progress” has been achieved during the peace talks
According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, “some progress” has been achieved in the talks on a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. Rubio told Fox News according to AFP.
– What we have tried to do, and what I think we have made some progress on, is to figure out what the Ukrainians can live with that gives them security guarantees for the future, he says.
He adds that the United States hopes that the solution “will allow them not only to rebuild their economy, but to prosper as a country.”
The statement comes after Tuesday’s nearly five-hour meeting between U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.
Zelensky: Working to reach a real peace agreement
Ukraine’s national security adviser Rustem Umerov will travel to Brussels to inform European leaders about what is known after yesterday’s meeting between the United States and Russia. This is what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky writes on X.
According to Zelensky, Umerov will then travel to the United States for a meeting with the American delegation.
“As always, Ukraine will work constructively to reach a real peace agreement,” Zelensky wrote on the platform.
Yesterday’s meeting between the US and Russia lasted five hours, but so far there have been no details about what was said. According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, “some progress” has been made.
