US plan for Gaza: Beach life and skyscrapers

Beach tourism, skyscrapers and over a hundred thousand newly built houses.
Gaza awaits if the US decides.
– There is a “master plan”, says Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner in Davos.
The grand vision was presented in connection with President Donald Trump presenting his peace council in Davos, Switzerland.
From a stage, the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner presented what he called a “master plan” for Gaza.
He showed, among other things, pictures of skyscrapers along the Gaza coast, which according to the plan will become a major tourist destination.
– We don’t have a plan B, we have a plan. We have signed an agreement, says Kushner.
The plan will be implemented in phases as soon as peace in the area is fully secured.
The first to receive the treatment is the city of Rafah, which was bombed to pieces by Israel, which will soon be transformed into “New Rafah,” according to Kushner.
The city is planned to have over a hundred thousand new homes and more than 75 hospitals.
“They’re building cities like this for, you know, two, three million people. They’re going to build this in three years. Things like this are very feasible if we make it happen,” Kushner says.
Trump: “Look at the location by the sea”
Donald Trump praised his son-in-law’s plan after the presentation. He also claimed that he has been extra careful to secure peace in the region given Gaza’s “location.”
“I’m a real estate person at heart, and it’s all about location. So I said, look at this location by the sea, look at this beautiful property, what it could be for so many people,” he says.
On the same day the plans were announced, the killings continued on the ground in Gaza. On Thursday, five Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes, Reuters reports.
When Al Jazeera visited displaced Palestinians in a refugee camp, their expectations of Trump's peace plans were low.
According to Manal al-Qouqa, a displaced mother from Gaza, there is no indication that peace will reach the Palestinians anytime soon.
- Every time they announce something that concerns the Palestinian people, it only increases our suffering, she tells the channel.
