Ukrainian drone team ran over Swedes in NATO exercise
In a simulated drone attack on Gotland during the recently concluded Aurora 26 military exercise, the invited Ukrainian soldiers "crushed" Swedish troops. This is stated by a 24-year-old Ukrainian drone pilot for the AP.
The Ukrainians were invited to train the Swedes and other NATO allies on how best to defend themselves against drones.
The drone pilot says that the Swedes would have been dead if the war game had been real.
- They had to interrupt the exercise three times, he says.
Another soldier adds that Sweden has potential, but that its tactics and knowledge must be improved. The news agency describes it as something of an awakening for NATO.
All Western countries must quickly improve their drone warfare skills, says Sweden's Commander-in-Chief Michael Claesson. Drawing on Ukraine's experience and expertise is probably "the quickest way to learn that lesson," he says.
