A summit between the world's largest economies.

And the men with the world's largest wallets.

Now they have been allowed to shake hands with Xi – one by one.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, Nvidia's Jensen Huang and the world's richest man Elon Musk were allowed to line up.

Then Donald Trump introduced them and the other CEOs to Xi Jinping – one by one they were allowed to shake the Chinese leader's hand.

Shaked hands

- China's door for American companies will be opened further and further, Xi told the American executives, according to the state news agency Xinhua.

A long line of American businessmen are attending the summit being held in Beijing on Thursday. One of the alleged items on the agenda is the tense trade situation between the countries.

Xi is said to have told the company leaders that “American companies are strongly participating in China’s reform” and that the country “welcomes the United States’ strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation with China”.

He also believes that American companies will have greater opportunities in China going forward, according to the news agency.

CEOs’ joy: “Wonderful”

Several of the American high-ups are said to have been seemingly pleased to have been invited.

– Wonderful, a lot of good things are happening now, Elon Musk said during the meeting, according to New York Post reporter Emily Goodin.

Tim Cook used hand gestures to express his euphoria. A peace sign seamlessly transitioned into a thumbs up.

Nvidia high-up Jensen Huang was also positive.

– The meeting went well, Xi and Trump are incredible.

The first meeting between Trump and Xi has now ended after 2 hours and 15 minutes.
