Trump's "Golden Dome" could cost six times what he said

Donald Trump's "Golden Dome" would cost about 1.2 trillion dollars, equivalent to 11150 billion kronor, to build and operate for 20 years. The price tag is more than six times as high as the Pentagon first said it would be. This is stated by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) according to Reuters.

"Golden Dome" is what Trump calls the missile defense system that he wants to build around the United States. The president has been inspired by the Israeli "Iron Dome".

The idea is that the dome will contain both advanced missiles on the ground and equipment in space that can detect, track and possibly shoot down incoming threats.

According to the CBO, it is impossible to calculate the long-term cost, partly due to a lack of details from the Defense Department.

Trump: FDA Director Marty Makary is leaving his role

Marty Makary, director of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is leaving his post, Donald Trump said, according to Bloomberg.

- He had difficulties, you know, he's a good doctor, and he had difficulties, but he will move on and he will do well, Trump said.

Makary has been head of the agency for 13 months. According to sources, the Trump administration is making further changes to the FDA's staff.

Former FBI Director: Forced to participate in political purge

Brian Driscoll was acting director of the FBI for a month before Kash Patel was officially assigned to the position. The job interview, and later the assignment, was deeply politically motivated, Driscoll said in an interview with CNN.

Driscoll says that then-FBI Director-elect Kash Patel said that the background check wouldn’t be a problem unless he was active on social media, donated money to Democrats, or voted for Kamala Harris.

He also says that he was asked by Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove to produce a list of all 6,000 FBI agents involved in the investigation into Donald Trump. When he asked why, he was told that there was “cultural rot” within the FBI.

This led to the firing of several agents.

According to Driscoll, Kash Patel said that “the FBI tried to put the president in prison, and he hasn’t forgotten.”
