Ukrainian drone found in the sea off Greece
A drone found near the Greek island of Lefkas last week has turned out to be Ukrainian, Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias announced, according to AFP.
According to Dendias, the incident affects the free and safe navigation in the area.
– This is extremely serious, he says.
The drone was found by fishermen on Thursday, and was towed into port by the Coast Guard, which then handed it over to the military. According to a Greek military source, explosives were found in the drone.
– Greece will take all necessary measures to ensure that the Mediterranean does not become an arena for military operations.

Kallas: Putin is weakened - an opportunity to end the war
Russian President Vladimir Putin's statements show that he is weakened - which could open the way for an end to the Ukraine war, says EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas according to AFP.
This weekend, Putin said that he believes the war against Ukraine is "coming to an end."
- What the statement actually shows is that he is not in a strong position. So I think there is an opportunity to end this war, says Kallas after a meeting with EU defense ministers.

EU punishes Russia for abducted Ukrainian children
The EU is imposing sanctions on 16 Russians for their involvement in the abduction of thousands of Ukrainian children, France 24 reports. Seven facilities suspected of being used to indoctrinate children or train them for military service are also included in the measures.
In total, over 130 people and organizations now have travel bans and frozen assets within the EU due to their roles in the deportations.
The organization Bring Kids Back UA tells Deutsche Welle that it has evidence that more than 20,000 children have been abducted, but that the real number is likely much higher. Russia stated in 2023 that the country had “received” 744,000 children.
The EU describes the abductions as very serious.
“Stealing children is among the most terrible things you can do in war,” EU Commissioner Marta Kos told France24.
