Rishi Sunak reshuffles the government after scandal
The UK government is getting a series of new ministers, British media reports. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the reshuffle after he sacked Tory leader Nadhim Zahawi just over a week ago. It is also described by The Independent as an attempt to reverse the party's disastrous public opinion figures.
One of Sunak's closest men, Greg Hands, succeeds Zahawi, who had to leave after a tax scandal. At the same time, the Ministry for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is broken up into separate ministries.
Grant Shapps becomes the new minister for energy security, Michelle Donelan is given the title of innovation and research minister, Kemi Badenoch is appointed trade minister and Lucy Frazer becomes minister responsible for culture, media and sport.

The flood of reports Oil companies make record profits in the wake of the war
With today's BP report, the British oil giant, Shell and Exxon have all delivered record profits. According to the Danish news agency Ritzau, one explanation is the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has pushed up prices.
In total, 15 of the 20 companies with the best returns on the American S&P 500 index were oil companies last year, the Wall Street Journal reports. The business newspaper writes that investors are still keeping their distance. The weighting in the S&P 500 has risen to 4.9 percent – well below the peak weighting of 16.2 percent in the second quarter of 2008.
"The entire universe of investors has clearly misunderstood the time it will take to wean off oil and gas," Brad Demicco, director of private markets at Southern Methodist University's investment office, told the WSJ.

Expert: The earthquake moved all of Turkey several meters
As many as 23 million people may have been affected by the strong earthquakes in Turkey on the night of Monday, according to an estimate by the World Health Organization WHO, writes AFP. The organization states that civil infrastructure for, among other things, healthcare has been damaged in the affected area.
The earthquake occurred along a 40-mile stretch just north of the border between Turkey and Syria, where two continental plates meet.
Italian geologist Carlo Doglioni tells la Repubblica that the quake caused all of Turkey to move three to five meters. Normally, the tectonic plate that Turkey sits on moves a few millimeters a year.
