Russian invasion

The world's response
Trump's Ukraine envoy to Kyiv in January – does not rule out a trip to Moscow

Donald Trump's Ukraine envoy Keith Kellogg plans to travel to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv in early January, sources told Bloomberg and Reuters.

According to Bloomberg's informant, Kellogg does not rule out a trip to Moscow as well. The source says the trip will focus on gathering information, rather than implementing a specific policy objective. Reuters sources, however, say that Kellogg does not plan to travel to the Russian capital.

The news agency notes that Kellogg's potential trip to Moscow would be an "extraordinary step" for a US official, given the US stance towards Russia following the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Trump's team has not commented on the travel plans, either to Bloomberg or Reuters.

Swedish state still owns Russian company

After several years of sanctions against Russia, the Swedish state still owns 36 percent of the Russian limited liability company Sweden House, reports the Altinget.

Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist (C), vice-chair of the business committee and member of the war delegation, tells the newspaper that she thinks it is completely unreasonable that the Swedish state is still a part-owner of the company.

– It has been over a thousand days since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The company is co-owned by the Russian city of Saint Petersburg and Ladoga Holding, which is a subsidiary of the Swedish CA Fastigheter.

Kristersson: Don't take US support for Ukraine for granted
When EU leaders meet for the last summit of the year in Brussels, support for Ukraine will be at the top of the agenda. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj will also be there to present how the Union can best support the country this winter, writes TT.

- Time is still on Ukraine's side, if the EU and other parties increase their support, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) in the Riksdag's EU Committee.

At the same time, the change of power in the US, when Donald Trump is to be sworn in as the new president in January, is expected to affect, among other things, the situation in the Middle East and support for Ukraine.

- Don't take US support for Ukraine for granted, don't take US funding for European NATO defense for granted. We have been doing that for far too long, says Kristersson.
