Advisors and allies close to Kamala Harris differ on whether the vice president should return to California to run for governor in 2026, CNN writes. If she runs, she will likely win easily, but then she will likely close the door to the presidential election two years later.
CNN has spoken to about a dozen people who agree on only one thing: She can't choose both. Some believe that her short campaign ahead of this year's election shows that she can gather a lot of support. Others are raising a warning finger for a humiliating defeat as early as the 2028 Democratic primary.
If Harris wants to run for governor, she should announce it by the summer, so the window of time is not very wide.
