Republicans Want Liz Cheney to Be Prosecuted
Republicans in the US House of Representatives believe that their former colleague, former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, should be criminally investigated for her role in the investigation into the storming of the Capitol. This is shown in a 128-page report that the New York Times has seen.
The report accuses Cheney of using the committee that investigated the storming as a tool to attack Donald Trump. Cheney, in turn, calls the report a "malicious and cowardly attack on the truth".
Donald Trump has previously said that politicians who investigated the storming of the Capitol "should go to prison". In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump writes that Liz Cheney should be investigated by the FBI, based on "the evidence" presented in the report.
Liz Cheney is a Republican but campaigned for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris ahead of the presidential election in November.

Sources: Eight Republicans Hesitating About Gabbard
Eight Republican senators are said to be hesitant to approve Tulsi Gabbard as the ultimate director of US intelligence, sources told Reuters.
Gabbard has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump, an appointment that has sent shockwaves through US security circles.
During a first round of hearings of Gabbard in Congress, she reportedly had difficulty answering tough questions.
Above all, it is a visit to then-President Bashar al-Assad in Syria in 2017 that has caused bad blood. She is also considered to have a too soft stance on Russia. On top of that, her lack of experience has been criticized.
If Trump fails to convince the eight Republicans to support Gabbard, she will instead need five Democratic votes, which is likely to be difficult.
