Several countries have hunted a Russian submarine off Norway

Norwegian, British and American surveillance planes have been hunting and scouting for a Russian submarine in the Norwegian Sea since Sunday, The Sun reports. Flight tracking services show how the plane has been circling over the water.

The submarine is said to have somehow threatened the large American aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford, the British tabloid reports. According to the Norwegian Dagbladet, the ship has been off the coast of Lofoten.

The hunt is “highly unusual,” a defense source tells The Sun, and experts add that NATO wants to show that it is in control.

– They are telling Russia: We’ll see you, says former naval commander Tom Sharpe.

The British Daily Mirror writes that the hunt has ended. It is said to have begun at 7 p.m. on Sunday evening and lasted for about two days.
