Donald Trump threatens Canada with 100 percent tariffs if the country enters into a trade deal with China.

“If Governor Carney thinks he is going to make Canada a ‘drop-off port’ for China to send goods and products to the United States, he is completely wrong. China will eat Canada alive,” the US president writes on his Truth Social platform.

Earlier this week, Trump withdrew his invitation to Canada to join his “peace council” after Mark Carney – who is the prime minister – declared the old, US-led world order dead in a notable speech in Davos.

Carney and Chinese leader Xi Jinping announced last week an agreement to lower tariffs for increased trade between the countries.
