The slogan ไม่โอ was chanted frequently and also appeared on several placards. This literally means “Not OK” but also has a hidden meaning — “We don’t want O”. O is part of a common Thai nickname for the Vajiralongkorn — Sia-O. 2/7
Several slogans referenced the plight of Tiwakorn Vithiton, a 45-year-old Thai man who was forcibly confined to a psychiatric hospital after sharing photos on social media of him wearing a T-shirt that said he had lost faith in the monarchy. 3/7
The slogans included:
“We didn’t lose faith, because we never had faith.”
“We had no faith in you since the beginning.” 4/7
Other placards openly mocked Vajiralongkorn’s infamous obsession with women. He had been married four times, nd spends most of his time in a luxury hotel in Germany with a harem of around 20 women. For example:
“Pervert, only interested in pussy.”
“Crazy about pussy.” 5/7
Some slogans were even more directly anti-monarchist, for example:
“You fucker R.10. When will we get democracy?”
“Overthrow the monarchy, support a new constitution.” 6/7
When slogans like these are being openly displayed in Bangkok, it is clear Thailand is entering a new era. Respect for the monarch is collapsing and people are becoming increasingly courageous in speaking out.
