None elected after 11 attempts for Speaker

Despite eleven votes, the Republicans have not been able to agree on who will be the next speaker.  

A disgruntled group refuses to field candidate Kevin McCarthy in the longest election in 164 years.

Republicans in the US House of Representatives are divided. After a total of eleven votes, they have still not agreed on who will take over as Speaker of the House of Representatives. It is the candidate Kevin McCarthy who fails to scrape together the 218 votes required to be elected.  

The vote has been postponed until Friday. The Speaker's election has now become the longest in 164 years. In 1859 it took 44 votes before a Speaker could be elected.

The speaker chaos has arisen after twenty Republicans in the House of Representatives opposed McCarthy. Politico reports that Republicans reportedly sat down and negotiated with each other after vote number eleven. According to the newspaper, "a breakthrough" has been reached.  

McCarthy hopeful  

Kevin McCarthy himself is hopeful of being elected.  

- It will continue to be like this until we reach an agreement, he told CNN on Thursday.  

The candidate was also asked at what stage he will realize that the result will not change.

The vote is carried out after the Republicans won a majority in the House of Representatives in connection with the fall mid-term elections in the United States. When Democrat Nancy Pelosi resigns, a Republican will replace her. speaker attempt  

The House of Representatives consists of 435 members and so far McCarthy has collected 200 votes.  The group of Republicans who do not want to see him in office is too small to choose their own candidate. That's why people vote against him in protest.
