Football expert Gary Lineker has criticized the UK government for the asylum reception.
Now the BBC is shutting him down.
After the announcement, several colleagues canceled their participation in "Match of the day" in protest.
The former great player is suspended from the role of TV expert during this weekend's "Match of the day".
- The BBC has had extensive discussions with Gary and his staff in recent days. We believe that his activity on social media has violated our guidelines, says a spokesperson for the British public service company BBC according to Sky News.

The decision applies until the parties have reached an agreement.
- When it comes to leading our football and sports coverage, Gary Lineker is in a class of his own. We have never said that Gary cannot have opinions on issues that are important to him, but we have said that he should refrain from taking a stand on partisan issues or political controversies, the spokesperson continued.
However, Gary Lineker has not agreed to this, writes Sky. A source says the decision is based on Lineker not wanting to apologize for his statements.

Following the announcement, colleagues Alex Scott, Alan Shearer and Ian Wright announced that they are canceling their participation in the program.
"Everyone knows what Match of the Day means to me, but I've told the BBC I won't be doing it tomorrow. Solidarity." writes Wright on Twitter.
Later on Friday evening, the BBC announced that Saturday's program will be broadcast without a studio and experts.
Compared to Nazi Germany
The background is Lineker's statements on Twitter where he has compared the choice of words used to announce the government's asylum policy with 1930s Germany.
"Enough is enough. We have to stop the boats," Interior Minister Suella Braverman has said, which Lineker calls "beyond terrible".
"We receive far fewer refugees than other large European countries. This is just an immeasurably cruel policy aimed at the most vulnerable people," Lineker tweeted.
Braverman, in turn, believes that Lineker's comments "diminish the unspeakable tragedy" that the Holocaust was.
A source in the opposition Labor Party calls the BBC's actions "cowardly" and "an attack on freedom of expression" for Sky.

British billions to stop migrants - on the French side
Drones and 500 extra border police are to be deployed along the French side of the English Channel to stop migrants, and a new detention center is to be built in northern France. The British price tag lands at the equivalent of SEK 6.2 billion, British media reports.
The agreement between French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was reached in Paris on Friday and represents a "fresh start" after Brexit, Macron said, according to AFP.
Harsh criticism has been leveled at Sunak for a bill to stop, lock up and deport asylum seekers without trial, according to The Guardian. The UN refugee agency UNHCR believes in a statement that it "eradicates the right to seek asylum" and probably violates the refugee convention.
