Minister deleted critical Biden tweet: "Fake news"
Representatives of Israel's coalition government are hitting back at US President Joe Biden after he criticized the legal reforms the government wants to push through.
Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar wrote in a tweet that "it is sad that Biden has fallen for all the fake news". He later deleted the post, explaining that he did so "out of respect for our important relationship with our greatest ally, the United States."
Even Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is critical of Biden's statements. He does say that he appreciates Biden's commitment to Israel, but that Israel is a sovereign country and that decisions are not made "based on pressure from abroad".
Israel's government will today sit in continued talks with the opposition about the reform.

Biden: Israel cannot continue on this path
The Israeli government should not try to push through deeply unpopular reforms to the justice system, US President Joe Biden thinks.
- Like many strong supporters of Israel, I am very concerned [...] they cannot continue on this path, and I have made that clear, he told reporters according to AFP.
The president adds that he hopes the Israeli government can reach a compromise solution - "but that remains to be seen".
He also adds that he has no plans to invite Netanyahu to the White House in the near future, thus denying the information that the US ambassador to Israel gave to the media earlier on Tuesday.
