Pollution kills children prematurely: "Failing our children"
Over 1,200 children and young people in Europe die prematurely due to air pollution, according to the EU environmental agency EEA. This is reported by several media.
The EEA's study, which includes over 30 countries in Europe, also shows that many thousands more children suffer from physical and mental health problems as a result of the pollution.
- You can't think of children as small adults when it comes to air pollution. We are failing our children when it comes to air pollution, says Gerardo Sanchez Martinez, expert on environment and health at the EEA.
