Analysis: Macron and Xi want to force a peace plan on Kyiv
Both China's Xi Jinping and France's Emmanuel Macron are just waiting to force an unbalanced peace plan on Ukraine. That's what Richard Kemp writes in The Telegraph.
He believes that there is a risk that the West overestimates Kyiv's capabilities in the counteroffensive promised by Ukraine.
In the event of "another deadlock", Xi and Macron can exploit the disappointment of the outside world, Kemp believes. "Awaiting this, Xi is courting Zelensky in the hope that he will accept terms that would be bad for Ukraine and good for Russia and China," he writes.
DN's Erik de la Reguera writes that Macron's new attempt to mediate peace together with Xi risks becoming another fiasco for the French president. Above all, Macron's statement that France wants to see the "status quo" on Taiwan is criticized as an attempt to charm Xi, a strategy that de la Reguera believes the Chinese saw through.
"The risk is great that Macron is walking into a trap intended to divide the West," he writes.

24 crew members stuck on the seized oil tanker
The company behind the seized oil tanker Advantage Sweet is working for the release of the crew, which consists of 24 Indian citizens. This is stated by Advantage Tankers in a statement to AFP.
According to the company, there is nothing to indicate that the crew is in danger and they describe an "international dispute" as the reason for Iran's actions.
Since the US left the nuclear agreement with Iran and reintroduced sanctions against Iran, conflicts over oil supplies in the Gulf of Oman have increased.
