The fighting in Sudan continues - the UN warns of disintegration
Despite the ceasefire, fighting continues in Sudan, three weeks after the conflict between the army and the RSF militia broke out, AFP reports.
During Saturday, fighter jets carrying out bombing raids over the capital Khartoum were met by anti-aircraft fire. At the same time, UN chief António Guterres appeals again to the parties to stop the fighting.
- There is no right to continue fighting for power when the country is falling apart, Guterres said in an interview with the television channel Al Arabiya.
So far, over 500 people are estimated to have been killed since the fighting broke out on 15 April.

Last British plane takes off from Sudan tonight
On Saturday evening, Britain will carry out its last evacuation flights out of Sudan, reports Sky News. Those still in the country and wanting to leave are told to get to the airfield at Wadi Seidna north of the capital Khartoum by midnight at the latest.
Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden says more than 1,500 people have been evacuated on the British planes, but that interest has waned significantly in recent days. Therefore, the flights are now ending in connection with the ceasefire that was extended on Thursday now expiring.

UN envoy sees glimmer of hope for Sudan talks
The warring parties in Sudan seem to have become more open to talks in recent days, UN envoy Volker Perthes told Reuters. According to Perthes, both sides have accepted that the fighting cannot continue.
According to Perthes, both the army and the militia group RSF have nominated delegates to negotiation committees. However, there is no timetable for when the talks can begin.
The prospects for talks have so far not been good. Army General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said on Friday that he will "never" enter into negotiations with the leader of the RSF, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo. Dagalo, for his part, says talks can only take place when the army stops its attacks.
