The Greek forest fires
Drama on Greek television as weapons depots exploded
Several international media have published clips from the town of Nea Anchialos on the Greek mainland, where over 100 people had to be evacuated on Thursday.
Forest fires then reached an ammunition warehouse belonging to the Greek Air Force, whereupon explosions occurred at the same time as Greek television companies tried to report on the situation.
The shock waves, which were said to have been felt far away, shattered house windows in the area, but there are no reports of anyone being injured.

Concern that the British government is pushing climate targets
British climate activists fear that the political measures announced by the country - on climate change and future zero emissions - may be postponed, writes AFP.
Increased living costs, rising energy prices and a number of other factors are expected to cause the ruling conservative party to postpone climate investments to the future in order to spare citizens' finances, critics predict.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stated the other day that the UK's climate targets should not lead to problems and higher costs in the lives of Britons.
However, Sunak certifies that the established goals, for example for the phasing out of sales of fossil-fueled cars by 2030, are fixed.
The Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has recently been in England to protest against the plans for a new huge gas and oil field near the Shetland Islands. She believes that British politics rather fail the citizens.
- We are in an escalating, existential emergency, the climate crisis is a matter of life and death for countless people, she says.

McConnell's health McConnell remains in office - kills speculation
Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has no plans to leave office until his term expires in early 2025, he says, according to Politico.
The announcement comes after a high-profile press conference this week, where the 81-year-old's speech suddenly fell silent, followed by his staring straight into the air for several seconds. Several Republican profiles have since expressed that he should leave the Senate, writes Newsweek.
What actually happened is unclear, but Forbes reports that it may have been a stroke or a type of epileptic seizure that causes the sufferer to become absent.
According to NBC, there have been several health incidents recently. Last spring he suffered a concussion after falling.

46,000-year-old parasite has been brought back to life by scientists
A 46,000-year-old parasite has been brought back to life by a research group linked to German academic works, writes CNN.
The parasite that lived at the same time as mammoths and saber-toothed tigers was found forty meters deep in the permafrost of Siberia, Russia.
Because the parasite is believed to have ended up in a life-threatening condition, its metabolism has decreased to almost immeasurable levels, which has enabled it to survive for so long. It was revived with water, according to the researchers who took about 100 specimens with them for further analysis in Germany.
Scientists have previously been able to revive parasites that are several decades old in a similar way, but this has never been done before on organisms that are many thousands of years old, according to Professor Teymuras Kurzchalia.
- We can pause life and then start it all over again, he says to the TV channel.
